Electric Shoebox Studios
The drawing on the right
came about when Anne
and I were designing the
invitation to our wedding.
I asked him if he could
draw something, and in
a few minutes, presented
us with this.
I used to have some
still lifes of fruit that he did with colored pencil, I think
in high school, but I don't know where they are hiding right now.
Below is Minor Hurricanes
and those boys are, of course, my grandsons.
This artist happens to
be my son. Alden Thomas is very gifted in a lot of areas, but the thing I like best are his pencil or prismacolor drawings. He has illustrated children's books and done drawings for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
These days, he uses a
tablet most of the time,
I think. His style is dist-
inctive. He's very savvy
with all things media.
I took this photo in 2013
at his exhibit at the Largo
library. He told me the
other day that his website,
hasn't been updated in a
long time, so I expect that some construction will be ongoing there.
Many, many years ago,
Alden created illustrations
for a home– schooler's
resource book on grammar written by a friend. I thought they were genius. This was
so long ago, I doubt he remembers it. I still have
the book, but can't find
a date on it.
More recently, but still a
while back, Alden illustrated
a children's book called
The House Ate It, which
is still available on Amazon.
